Favorite Movie and Why?

Birdcage with Robin Williams because it ALWAYS makes me laugh.

“Go to” Quote or Mantra that Grounds You?

Collaborative Astrology.

How Does Your Work Enable You to Connect to and Fulfill Your Life Purpose/Passion?

One look at my bookshelves reveals that I have been a lifelong student of spirituality, world religions, mysticism, philosophy, psychology, mythology, and folklore. The challenge for me was how to pull these interests together into a meaningful role. Then I found astrology. Astrology is a practice that draws on much of what I learned through my years of seeking and became the vehicle for me to serve others. Once I began my astrology practice, I experienced the comfort of putting on my own “skin.” It put me on the path to living my calling and a more joyful and authentic life.

Who Is Your Ideal Client and Why?

My ideal clients have a sincere interest in exploring the qualities that make them who they are and the possibilities for growth that their lives offer.

What Unique Offerings Do You Provide?

Through the interpretation of the Birth, Transit, and Solar Return Charts, I help clients to meet their authentic selves, clarify their values, identify areas of growth, recognize gifts, open to new possibilities, and direct their attention to themes that may be at work in their lives. I do this by using the charts to prompt an on-going guided dialog about the meanings in the charts and their application to the clients’ lives. In addition to single session chart readings, I offer the Birth Chart Immersion Program which offers clients the opportunity for a deep dive into their Birth Chart and the way astrological energies play out in their lives. It also is an introduction to how astrology works. The Birth Chart Immersion Program takes ten to twelve weeks to complete.

Who Was Your Role Model Growing Up? How Did That Person’s Actions Impact You?

My role model growing up was my mother’s good friend. When I was a child, and well into adulthood, when I spoke she focused all of her attention on me, as if I was the only person in the room. She made me feel as if what I had to say was important and valuable and that I mattered. I hope that I can bring that kind of presence to my clients.

Favorite Place to Escape and Refuel?

My favorite place is the beach. Watching the ocean, feeling the salt on my skin, and deeply breathing in the ocean air gives me a fresh perspective on life.

Top 3 Ways to Treat Yourself to Self-Care?

1. I guard my daily morning time to myself when I journal.
2. Meditate.
3. Take walks.

How Do You Express Yourself Creatively?

I express myself creatively by writing, hooking rugs, and bringing beauty into my home.

Last Memorable Book You Read and Why?

The last memorable book I read was Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown. She provides a clarified and extensive emotional common vocabulary that is key to understanding our feelings, communicating them to others, and being better understood by our listeners.

Favorite Movie and Why?

My favorite movie is The Secret of Roan Inish, based of the folktale of the Selkie.

“Go to” Quote or Mantra that Grounds You?

On the in-breath I say “here” and on the out-breath I say “now.”

Accomplishment Are You Most Proud of?

I am most proud of being a mother of my three adult children and a good life partner to my husband of 35 years.

Best Lesson Learned in Life So Far?

It took me time to learn not to worry about what others think or what expectations they may have of who I am supposed to be. Leaving that concern behind lead me to a far more fulfilling life filled with possibilities.

Advice to Younger Self?

I would tell myself to pursue my dreams regardless of self-doubt, perceived disapproval, and concerns about the practicality of what called to me.

What Do You Love Best About Yourself (physical trait or personality characteristic) and Why?

I love my authenticity. What you see is what you get.

Any Advice for Women Considering Joining the SheBreathes Collaborative?

Game Changer Interview: Roi Armstrong

Name of Your Business

Energy and Matter Learning, LLC.

How Does Your Work Enable You to Connect to and Fulfill Your Life Purpose/Passion?

Practicing Reiki and reading the Akashic Records directly aligns with my life purpose and passion because the energy flows from my higher self into my heart. Communicating through my heart provides an authentic connection between myself and the world at large. I am here to teach, tell the truth, honor my word, and break old patterns. The women that came before me did not always feel safe to practice their gifts, be seen in all their light, or accomplish their goals. Helping clients release frameworks that no longer serve them allows them and myself greater access to expansion. Whether I am rebalancing someone’s chi or answering questions from the record keepers I am doing my part to decrease suffering and increase meaning.

Who Is Your Ideal Client and Why?

My ideal client is someone who is open-minded and curious. This person is self-aware and feels deeply. They are awake to the fact that they are in certain situations and relationships for a reason. They view life as a series of learning opportunities and do not take themselves too seriously. The information they receive from a treatment may bring up surprising revelations so it helps to be open to all ways of being. To receive the highest and best good from my offerings it helps if the client views our interaction as a collaboration.

What Unique Offerings Do You Provide?

I offer Reiki, and I read the Akashic Records. Reiki is a gentle hands on healing technique from Japan. I focus on your chi, your life force, and balance the energy moving through your body. It is like a massage for your soul. Your body’s nervous system is like a cell phone that has too many apps running at the same time. Energy running in too many directions drains it from the areas that help you feel calm and centered. Closing and cleaning up your apps allows your phone’s battery to operate efficiently. Reiki calms the nervous system and allows your body to recharge in a safe way. The Akashic Records are a universal library where the energetic imprint of you is stored. I act as a librarian. Through the questions you ask we read the book of you together. I bring forth information about your past lives, your soul purpose, and we discuss why you are who you are. I identify patterns, archetypes, and can explain why certain relationships exist in your current life. We can also talk about how to move past fear, anxiety, and any other challenges. In addition I can offer suggestions for ways you can integrate the new information into your life now.

Who Was Your Role Model Growing Up? How Did That Person’s Actions Impact You?

My role model was my grandmother on my mother’s side. Her name was Eunice but we called her Grammy. She lived in rural New Hampshire, did not learn how to drive or even ride a bike but she was magical. She loved children and animals and could always be found in her garden. She collected antiques and had a house filled with all sorts of knick-knacks and dolls. She had 7 children and 20 grandchildren and loved all of us the same. She was a life long learner. She read constantly including poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. She wrote in her journal everyday, loved to walk, and had a wicked sense of humor. She faced some serious challenges including the early death of my grandfather. She raised 7 children by herself during lean times. Her ability to look at life as a gift and see the good in everyone influenced me and continues to do so. She was adept at pivoting to what is and moved into acceptance quickly. Her awareness that love is all that matters gives me hope and illuminates my world.

Favorite Place to Escape and Refuel?

I love to go the beach and be in nature. I feel at home in the water and find walking in the forest so nourishing. Feeling the grass under my bare feet is grounding. When I float in the water I feel so light and free.

Top 3 Ways to Treat Yourself to Self-Care?

I exercise, make time for my friends, and journal everyday. When I move my body I quiet the mind and can release all the tension I’ve picked up along the way. Although I am a small business owner and have a family, there is no substitute for laughing and creating new experiences with my friends. They make life worthwhile. I journal in the mornings and will also write at other times of the day. Writing comes from my higher self. Putting my thoughts on paper gives me a new perspective on ideas and life.

How Do You Express Yourself Creatively?

I write, play the bouzouki (a Greek guitar), and love to create and teach workshops.

Last Memorable Book You Read and Why?

I recently read Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers. I was reading Get Rich Lucky Bitch by D. Duffield-Thomas and she kept referencing this book. It has made quite an impact because fear can show up in so many areas of our lives for different reasons. Starting and scaling up a small business like my own can bump up against all kinds of limiting beliefs. This book helped me reframe the stories I am telling myself about what could happen. Fear is never going to go away because we are humans. Feeling it, asking questions about why it’s there and how it’s serving you and then proceeding is vital to moving forward.

Favorite Movie and Why?

I love anything by Mel Brooks but especially History of the World Part 1. He is not afraid to make fun of terrible moments in history. He has such a open-mind and his jokes are layered and work on the surface all at the same time. He lives for today and laughs at life- what could be better?

“Go to” Quote or Mantra that Grounds You?

I resonate with Louise Hays. When I find myself getting caught up with emotions I say, “it’s only a thought and a thought can be changed.” This reminds me that we are not our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. We learn from them but have a choice as to whether we react or respond. I respond when I remember that if I don’t act on it, the feeling will pass in 90 seconds. I let it go and release it knowing all is well.

Accomplishment Are You Most Proud of?

I am the most proud of my 3 children. They are bright and delightful. I am also proud of going back to school in my mid-40’s to earn my doctoral degree. I am the first woman in my family to earn a PhD. I worked as a Teaching Assistant all 4 years sometimes teaching two classes at a time on top of being a research assistant while being a full-time student. It transformed my world in all the best ways and my life is richer for it.

Best Lesson Learned in Life So Far?

To accept a situation as it is, to be aware that everyone is doing the best they can to meet their needs, and to leave a situation if it doesn’t feel right. Pivot, pivot, pivot (as they say in that famous Friends episode).

Advice to Younger Self?

It is ok and safe to shine. Your intuition is always right and having boundaries is acceptable.

What Do You Love Best About Yourself (physical trait or personality characteristic) and Why?

I love that I am an extrovert, that I have a sense of humor, and that I am short. Being an extrovert is an asset when entering new situations. I thrive on human interaction. Being funny helps to lighten up the darkness which is always a plus. When people are laughing they feel a sense of relief. I love that I am short because I enjoy dispelling the notion that big things come in big packages. My stature has zero to do with my wide-reaching positive energy and my connection to the universe.

Any Advice for Women Considering Joining the SheBreathes Collaborative?

I would encourage people to have an entrepreneurial mindset. Although the SheBreathes Collaborative provides resources your life and career are in your hands. Take advantage of the networking opportunities and the social media sites to talk about what you love to do. Your passion will invite clients to find you and provide you with expansion opportunities.

Any Message You Have for Our Community?

I resonate with the community message of collaboration, communication, and cooperation. There are quite a few members that offer similar services. Although we may have the same titles, what we offer is unique and individualized. There are enough people in this world that can use our help. We all win when we lift each other up.

Who Was Your Role Model Growing Up? How Did That Person’s Actions Impact You?

My high school volleyball coach and physical education teacher, Linda Hamm inspired me to design a career helping others to be fit and healthy. I recall her telling me that I played volleyball with my heart. Turns out, this is how I’ve lived my life.

Favorite Place to Escape and Refuel?

Hiking trails in New England with my two adult children.

Top 3 Ways to Treat Yourself to Self-Care?

I ask myself throughout the day, “What is the most self-caring choice I can make right now?” Having a mindfulness practice helps me know what I need in the moment.

How Do You Express Yourself Creatively?

I appreciate how creativity can present itself in any moment when I open my mind to the possibilities. I enjoy expressing creativity through writing. I’ve authored two books; Thriving When Your Cosmic Egg Is Cracked: A Mindful Journey and Mindful Exercise: A Bridge Between Yoga and Exercise. I’m also pretty creative in the kitchen and most often cook without recipes.

Last Memorable Book You Read and Why?

Reading The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer gave me the courage to trust myself and to create my new company Thriving Circles Global. It validated the importance of honoring my soul’s desire, especially now at the start of a new decade.

Favorite Movie and Why?

I don’t have one favorite movie but I have watched Under the Tuscan Sun a number of times. I really like Diane Lane and recently discovered that it was directed by a woman, which makes me like it even more. I love how Frances is able to let go of everything to start a new chapter. And how by keeping her heart open she makes new friends and even finds love again.

“Go to” Quote or Mantra that Grounds You?

“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.” —Ella Fitzgerald.

Accomplishment Are You Most Proud of?

Raising my two children as a solo parent through tumultuous times and now seeing them flourish has been the greatest accomplishment and blessing of my life.

Best Lesson Learned in Life So Far?

Believing in myself at age 60 is an important life lesson for me these days. The workplace and American society at large doesn’t value older people. I will not become invisible nor will I let age or other people’s views define me and what I have to offer. I’m actually very excited and hopeful about this next chapter. Forget retirement. I’m choosing rewirement!

Advice to Younger Self?

People usually don’t mean to hurt you. They just don’t have the capacity to do any better. Bless them and stay focused on what you can be in charge of—yourself!

What Do You Love Best About Yourself (physical trait or personality characteristic) and Why?

I’ve come to appreciate my capacity to love–myself and others. I’ve taken some pretty big hits in life and my heart has been broken many times by loss and disappointment. More than resilience, I’ve kept my heart and mind open to the possibilities. So long as I am alive and breathing, I can begin again.

Any Advice for Women Considering Joining the SheBreathes Collaborative?

I think we are all seeking meaningful conversation and connection. This Collaborative offers many opportunities to engage with other women in a beautiful space or virtually. The nurturing energy is palpable.

How Does Your Work Enable You to Connect to and Fulfill Your Life Purpose/Passion?

The services I offer are part of my Dharma. Holding space for other’s to (re)gain their sense of autonomy, discover their voice and align with their truth is such an empowering experience, and one that isn’t recognized enough. As a collective, we are making a shift into the new paradigm where people are starting to recognize that your passion – what lights you up – is what you are meant to follow. To be an oracle of this new paradigm and truly understand how it feels when you align with your truth, is such an incredible experience and one that I can’t put enough words too. Multifaceted and Multi-Passionate, my purpose is not linear. What remains the same throughout is, my absolute bliss when I witness another person detach from conditioning that has kept them out of alignment with their purpose, step into their power. Just as my path is not linear, healing is not linear. Every person has a different story, different response, different perspectives, etc. For me, being able to access a large variety of modalities in order to maximize my client’s experience is imperative.

Who Is Your Ideal Client and Why?

My clients are motivated to (re)gain a sense of autonomy, step into their power, and smash the status quo. Combining Eastern Traditions with Western Science, my ideal client wants to dive deeper into their spirituality and is motivated to transfer from Karma to Dharma. I provide services to women, children, and adolescents. I specifically want to highlight that as a gay woman, I am motivated to cultivate a larger space for individuals who identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including gender non-conforming, non-binary, and transgender individuals.

What Unique Offerings Do You Provide?

I provide Trauma Conscious Dharmic Healing to guide disenfranchised individuals who have been silenced, through the process of detaching from conditioning to discover their voice and align with their truth. As a student at the Dharma Coaching Institute under Sahara Rose herself, I utilize the Dharma Discovery Method, Human Design, movement, meditation, visualization, and much more to help others (re)gain a sense of autonomy, step into their power, and embody their Dharma. As a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator, I approach life through a trauma conscious lens. My extensive education combined with certifications, allows me to appropriately assess and provide a healing space for those who have a history of complex trauma.

Who Was Your Role Model Growing Up? How Did That Person’s Actions Impact You?

My role model was my grandmother, MeeMee. MeeMee has impacted every fiber of my being. My Spirit Guide and FIERCE Warrior Goddess, MeeMee is why I am here today and the reason why I’m such a divine force. She passed when I was 14 years old and although it was absolutely devastating, I always just knew that our bond was too strong for her to ever really be gone. She allowed me to be an intuitive empath with psychic abilities, and never once made me feel like there was any reason why I should question my abilities. When I told her things happen, her response was, “I know hunny, because it happens to me too.” She went on to tell me about how she was born and how in her time, this meant that she had psychic abilities. On my worst days, I always thought about what MeeMee would want for me. That MeeMee would see me for all that I am, and that her unconditional love could get me through it, even if it didn’t feel like it in the moment. My strength and presence is from MeeMee and I know that everyday I walk this earth, I am embodying her (while she chills out over my shoulder, making sure no one is crossing her darling Corrine’s path).

Favorite Place to Escape and Refuel?

Aruba, Aruba, Aruba, Aruba.

Top 3 Ways to Treat Yourself to Self-Care?

1. My monthly massage.
2. A deep yin yoga session or meditation.
3. A jacuzzi tub that fits these long limbs without morphing my body AND/OR taking a rainforest shower at my mother’s house.

How Do You Express Yourself Creatively?

Speaking. Writing. Speaking. Dancing. Speaking. Recently, I have been creating my own virtual content which has been super awesome. Did I mention, speaking?

Last Memorable Book You Read and Why?

Discover Your Dharma by Sahara Rose, of course. I wouldn’t be here without it.

Favorite Movie and Why?

Oh no, I am AWFUL at this. So, so bad at thinking about movies or songs off the bat.

“Go to” Quote or Mantra that Grounds You?

Show Love, Spread Love.

Accomplishment Are You Most Proud of?

Choosing ME.

Best Lesson Learned in Life So Far?

Being true to you, and literally embodying your authentic self is literally the best thing we can ever do. Not only will YOU benefit, but the world will too.

Advice to Younger Self?

GIRLLLLL. You are the light this world NEEDS! People will continue to try to dim you but your light is too bright to ever burn out. Love yourself. Stop living for the satisfaction of everyone else. It literally does not matter. You know your truth. You know your soul. You know why you’re here. So be here. Be there for you. Don’t sit down, don’t be quiet, STAND UP and SPEAK OUT.

What Do You Love Best About Yourself (physical trait or personality characteristic) and Why?

You know what’s amazing? The fact that it’s hard to pin point what I love best about myself. Something that may sound cocky but really stems from living my truth. I am so multifaceted, passionate, and genuinely unique that I truly just appreciate this soul that I am in this vessel that I’m in.
