Who Was Your Role Model Growing Up? How Did That Person’s Actions Impact You?

I only started growing up as an adult in my 20’s. After years of living in a negative mindset, dealing with abusive relationships, and navigating my world from the understanding of being an adult child of an alcoholic that there was no more room in my life to suffer anymore. The day I learnt how to take a personal inventory of my mindset, observing my patterns, habits and hang ups that I decided to claim my power back. When I began to empower myself to see and experience peace, I learned how to take my stories and learn differently. Not only that to empower my mindset from the “I am not enough” to the “I am enough!” Everything changed for the better once I learned how to see myself and life differently which turned around into changing my life to take tremendous leaps. My role models are my child, who I had at 20 left me to push myself from poverty to a highly evolve me into a profitable business owner. They impacted my life to see the truth of who I was, who I came from and what I was carrying and attracting in to my life. I pushed myself through the direction that I wasn’t going to fall anymore that I was made to rise.

Game Changer Interview: Maureen Dermody

Game Changer Interview: Maureen Dermody

Name of Your Business

Maureen Dermody Chopra Certified Wellness Coach.

How Does Your Work Enable You to Connect to and Fulfill Your Life Purpose/Passion?

When I retired at the beginning of the pandemic, I developed stress to the point of insomnia and digestive issues. I received an invite to join a zoom meeting with the Chopra Institute. I decided to go to the Chopra Institute and studied to become an Ayurvedic Health Teacher, Primordial Sound Meditation Teacher, and Chopra Wellness Coach. The work I did on myself with my Chopra Mentors during the programs was transformative. My new life of Ayurvedic health and meditation keeps me grounded, graceful and happy every day. When I’m out of balance and don’t feel this way, I now have the tools to get back to being balanced.

Who Is Your Ideal Client and Why?

A person that finds themselves not feeling like themselves due to digestive issues, insomnia, sluggishness, or unmotivated. The reason is usually what they are taking in to nourish themselves.

What Unique Offerings Do You Provide?

The Perfect Health: Ayurvedic Lifestyle program $450

This is done in three 1-hour sessions and will provide you with the basic principles of Ayurveda as well as the three primary mind-body personalities: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Learn how to select the most nourishing foods for your mind-body personality to maintain vibrant health, appropriate weight, and optimize digestion. Learn to practice conscious communication to enhance your relationships and help you to achieve emotional freedom. And finally, I’ll teach you to use your senses to access the power of your body’s inner pharmacy to heal, nourish, and maintain balance.

Chopra Coaching ten 1-hour sessions $1500

As a Chopra Coach I will guide you to a happy and balanced life. Through the Chopra Coaching process, you will experience deep transformation, healing, and greater self-knowledge, resulting in more joyful living. The foundation of the Chopra Coaching model is rooted in Vedic philosophy, coupled with evidence based best practices from coaching psychology. We will start with determining your mind-body personality or dosha.

My understanding of a person’s unique nature and current imbalances allows me to be more present and attentive to each client’s individual needs. I can use this knowledge to be flexible from client to client. I know how to best communicate with each client, and how to consider their dosha type while listening to and communicating with them.

I understand that through meditation all things are possible, and I will help my clients to cultivate a meditation practice or resume one if they’ve tapered off. I will obtain their individual Primordial Sound mantra, perform the Primordial Sound mantra ceremony, and teach them how to use their mantra.

The four cornerstones of the Chopra coaching model are unique exercises. These exercises will help my clients get to the core of their being. They’re essential tools to help facilitate change and align with dharma or your life purpose.

Who Was Your Role Model Growing Up? How Did That Person’s Actions Impact You?

My mother was my role model and still is. She was ahead of her time and practiced mindfulness every day. Her inner strength, focus, and grace carried her through times of some of Lifes biggest challenges. Her confidence, compassion, and humor got her through the rest of the time. I always hoped to be like her.

Game Changer Interview: Jennifer Sullivan

Name of Your Business

Sky is the Limit LLC.

How Does Your Work Enable You to Connect to and Fulfill Your Life Purpose/Passion?

Currently I am switching gears in my life–stepping into my soul purpose. Connecting and empowering people to tap into their intuition, understand their astrological makeup, as well as helping people take back their power through the art of Firewalking.

Who Is Your Ideal Client and Why?

Anyone seeking knowledge, someone that is open to the process and willing to have fun, be empowered and grow. Life is a journey–let’s take it together!

What Unique Offerings Do You Provide?

Psychic/Tarot Readings, Astrology Readings, Reiki & Energy work, Firewalks (public & private), Home Blessings & Clearings (Rescue Medium/Spirit Crossovers).

Who Was Your Role Model Growing Up? How Did That Person’s Actions Impact You?

My Father, David Sullivan. He was always kind, forgiving, and full of ancient wisdom. He taught me how to be open, generous, and that we need to care for each other. He was also my greatest supporter (and still is in the Spirit Realm) and actually gifted me with my first set of Tarot Cards, encouraging me to hone my skills.

Favorite Place to Escape and Refuel?

The beach! I grew up on the ocean, and as a kid I loved the ocean. I still go to the beach when I need to ground and connect with the element of Water.

Top 3 Ways to Treat Yourself to Self-Care?

1. Attending Sound Baths, meditations.
2. Energy work done on me is also important for me to stay balanced.
3. Reading and writing–love a good book and love to sit and write!

How Do You Express Yourself Creatively?

Currently I create jewelry–although I need to get back into painting.

Last Memorable Book You Read and Why?

Ironically enough, I have been rereading the Vampire Chronicle books by Anne Rice. The characters and their human experiences, although otherworldly creatures, are things anyone can relate to. The characters journeys have reflected parts of my own life. Rereading these also has inspired me to keep going with the book that I have been writing.

Favorite Movie and Why?

House of Flying Daggers, a Chinese film. The cinematography is incredible, the characters relatable, and love story captivating. The Last Samurai would be the other–I love anything about the Bakumatsu period and the Boshin Wars in Japan.

“Go to” Quote or Mantra that Grounds You?

“You don’t know how old those tears are.” This was a message channeled for me many years ago. The tears you shed could be lifetimes old. Make sure you let them flow.

Accomplishment Are You Most Proud of?

I’m not going to say proud, but the experience I am most grateful for is my training to be a certified Firewalk Facilitator. It allowed me to dive deep into myself, meet and connect with amazing people, and go step into my power.

Best Lesson Learned in Life So Far?

That healing is a life-long journey. Don’t ever judge yourself on where you are in the process. Just know you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Advice to Younger Self?

Don’t put up walls–learn to identify and express what your needs are. And the more you show up for yourself, the more others are going to show up for you.

What Do You Love Best About Yourself (physical trait or personality characteristic) and Why?

That I have the ability to talk to just about anyone (dead or alive) and find some common ground and way to connect. It has allowed me to have some really beautiful connections with people.

Any Advice for Women Considering Joining the SheBreathes Collaborative?

Trust yourself, be open, and know that if you have an idea–you are worthy of following it. And that the people here will welcome you and support you on your journey!

Any Message You Have for Our Community?
